MAJOR CHANGES ARE QUICKLY APPROACHING THAT WILL DRASTICALLY CHANGE THE MAKE-UP OF INTERMODAL DRAYAGE FLEETS AND WILL NEGATIVELY AFFECT THOSE DRAYMAN AND IMC’S WHO ARE NOT PROPERLY PREPARED.

January 1, 2010: By State of California legislation all drayage trucks:


  • Model year 1993 engine and older are BANNED into all port and rail facilities.
  • Model year 1994 – 2003 engines must be outfitted with a California Air Resources Board (CARB) approved level 3 retrofit device to reduce both Particulate Matter and NOx to CARB 2007 standards.
  • The ports will no longer allow entrance of non compliant “dirty” trucks simply by paying the port CTF charges.
  • Model year 2004 – 2006 engine can continue to operate within the port and rail facilities until 12/31/2012.
  • Model year 2007 engine and newer have no restrictions.

More new trucks being delivered to American Pacific in preparation for rail compliance occurring at the end of 2009.

Just as in 2008 with American Pacific being compliant in the Ports, American Pacific is ahead of schedule in the process of being clean truck compliant. This means we will be able to provide non interrupted rail and port drayage operations in 2010 which marks a new era of environmental awareness and clean air regulations in our industry.
